Applying for Financial Aid

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • If you do not already have a Federal Student Aid PIN, you and your parent(s), will be assigned one while completing the FAFSA. Your Federal Student Aid PIN will act as an electronic signature annually for the FAFSA application, and enable you to complete promissory notes and further financial aid transactions with the Department of Education.
  • The FAFSA is the federal government's application to determine financial aid eligibility for most types of financial aid.
  • Complete the FAFSA as early as possible each year.
  • Use completed federal tax information. We encourage you to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.
  • List Colorado State University-Fort Collins to receive your information. Our school code is 001350.

Verify Information is Correct on Your Student Aid Report (SAR)

  • The Central Processor will send you a SAR with your FAFSA information.
  • Review all information for accuracy.
  • Use FAFSA On the Web to make corrections, if necessary.
  • Keep this information for your records.

We will notify you, via e-mail, regarding your next steps in the financial aid process.
